Miracles are a retelling in small letters of the very same story which is written across the whole world in letters too large for some of us to see. ~ C.S. Lewis
Ed Note: I thought about turning the following into an actual post. Ya know, giving you the background, weaving the various threads of the story together for you, telling you about the twenty-four hours of worry that preceded it or the precision planning that went into making it work.
And then I laid down till the thought went away.
Literally. I hit snooze when the alarm went off.
So instead, I’m going to share with you the post that I put up on my personal Facebook page last night (below) followed by the nearly incoherent run on sentence cum paragraph that I sent to my closest Mama friends thereafter. It’s not pretty. It’s raw; it’s messy; it’s real and it’s bursting at the seams with joy.
Katie’s first concert with the All City Chorus – a huge success on so many fronts. So proud of my little family tonight.

oh mamas, so i just got home from katie’s first all city chorus concert. it was an hour long. an HOUR. in a hot – make that HOT – auditorium. and brooke sat through the entire thing. and WATCHED it. and sang a little and bowed every time anyone clapped and whatever people she SAT through it and WATCHED it. no ipad, no phone, nothing. and katie was friggin AWESOME. from the stage she admonished me when i started crying in the middle of the song that she’d warned me that i’d cry during with a mouthed (smirking and singing) ‘stop it!’ followed by an ‘i love you’. and then – oh my god, and then – we walk out and we’re waiting for katie and brooke walks up to some totally random kid from the choir and says, ‘you did lovely singing’ and it was so friggin sweet and then katie came out and she said, ‘you did a really good job being in the concert, katie’ and then i turned to mush and died from the cuteness of it all. and that’s how the night went, by jess
