On Christmas Day, Brooke read the following, which, as you might remember from THIS, did not surprise her in the least …

Dear Brooke,
On January 9th, you and your mama are going to fly on
to go visit
and her friends at their home in the
We sure hope you like your trip.
Merry Christmas!
Love,
Papa and Grandma Noe

When we planned this back in November, January 9th felt like a lifetime away. There was Thanksgiving and Christmas and New Year’s and Back To School to get through. There were team meetings and evals and a thousand things to do at work.
But here we are. Because time does that, doesn’t it? The days are long but the years are short – and the months, well, they simply fly by when you’re not looking.
So on Wednesday morning, my girl and I will be getting on a plane and heading to Dora’s house. I asked her last night what she’s most looking forward to. I couldn’t wait to hear her answer. Swimming in the water park? Meeting Dora? Seeing her favorite characters come to life?
“Flying on Jet Blue,” she said.
And I had to smile. Because that’s my kid. For her the mundane is, well, not. The flight is not an inconvenience to be overcome in order to arrive at the destination, but a destination in and of itself. The journey is the point.
It amazes me how much I have yet to learn from this little person.
Wednesday can’t come fast enough.

P.S. Once again, thank you, Dad. Not just for making just my little girl’s dream possible, but mine too. Oh, and just for the record, she told me that she wants to go visit Jesus and his friends at Godspell World next. So, um, yeah.
…and Godspell World next–lots of luck on that one.
Love you,
Mom
Yay! You’ll be traveling on my husband’s birthday so I’m hoping it’s a spectacular day all the way around. Can’t wait to hear all about it.
So excited for you and Brooke! Hope you have a wonderful trip
We stayed at the Nick Hotel 2 years ago when my son was 4 1/2 and he’s still talking about it!! On the days that we went to the Disney parks all he kept saying was “Okay, all finished. Now it’s time to go back to the hotel.”
Cannot wait to hear all about your adventures!
Have a great trip!!
LOVE THIS. Hope you both have the time of your life!!!
Blessings.
Have an amazing trip!! Can’t wait to hear all about it!! π
Hope your trip is wonderful. What a great gift for Brooke!
Have a wonderful trip, you two deserve it!
Enjoy!
Have fun. Brook’s anticipation reminds me of my favorite lyric in a song…’life’s a journey, not a destination’. Ok, even if the flamboyant screams of Aerosmith’s Amazing is not your musical preference; the message does make one evaluate the things we often take for granted.
Love you and yours so very much.
Dad
