where are you, sweet boy?

 Missing Autistic Boy

Where are you, sweet boy?

The heart of this entire community aches for you.

Everyone keeps talking about your family. How much they must be hurting. And yes, my God, yes. Absolutely, truly, unfathomably yes. I pray with them.  I stand with them, here and in my heart. I absorb their pain and swallow it into my soul.

But it’s you. You that I think of day in and day out. Where are you, sweet boy?

Are you afraid?

Are you hungry?

Are you cold?

Are you on a grand adventure riding your beloved trains deep into the underground tunnels and out again into the light?

Are you running free, laughing with the wind in your face?

Are you afraid?

Do you know that we’re all out here, praying for your safety? Do you know how desperately your family wants you back in their arms? Do you feel our prayers converging with theirs, wrapping around your shoulders, holding you, comforting you, trying with everything we have to guide you home?

Do you know that no one is going to give up? That we’re going to keep on searching and praying and pasting your picture on every wall until you come home? Do you know that we won’t lose faith? We. Won’t. Lose. Faith.

Where are you, sweet boy?

Do you hear your mama’s voice, thousands upon thousands of mamas strong?

Please, please, please, wherever you are, hear your mama’s voice.

Where are you, sweet boy?
